Getting started
What do I need to start?
A resume and an email address. MarketMate reads your resume into structured experience, education and skills, asks you to confirm a few things it cannot safely infer — work authorisation especially — and then starts finding roles.
Do I need the browser extension?
Only to have forms filled for you. Without it, MarketMate still finds roles, scores them, and writes your tailored resume summary, cover letter and screening answers — you copy them into the employer's site yourself.
Which browsers does the extension work in?
Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers. There is no Safari or Firefox version.
Is it free?
Yes, to start, with no card. See pricing for what is settled and what is not.
Finding jobs
Which job boards do you support?
Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby. Those are the application systems behind a large share of US startup and tech hiring, and they are where MarketMate can read a posting and fill a form reliably.
What about Workday, Taleo, iCIMS, LinkedIn or Indeed?
Not supported. Workday in particular is a multi-step flow that usually requires an account per employer, and doing it badly would be worse than not doing it. We would rather support three systems properly than six unreliably.
Where do the jobs come from?
The employers' own job boards, read directly. Not a scraped aggregator, so postings are not stale copies of something taken down last month.
Can I choose which companies to watch?
Yes. You build a watchlist, and MarketMate follows those employers specifically. You start with one already seeded so the product is useful on day one.
Matching and eligibility
How is the fit score calculated?
Skills, role title, experience level and industry each contribute a visible share. Open any role and you can see the breakdown, the evidence for the match, and what counts against it. It is not a keyword count, and it is not a number you have to take on faith.
Why was a role excluded?
Because it failed one of five hard checks: work authorisation and sponsorship, location, graduation timing, seniority, or a US security clearance requirement. Every exclusion records which check caused it, and you can see it.
What if the posting does not say whether they sponsor?
Then it stays unknown, and unknown never silently becomes a pass. The role remains in your feed, capped below the ones we can confirm, and the explanation says the posting is silent on it. More on this on the international students page.
What if you filter out something I was eligible for?
Fix the relevant field in your profile and the role comes back. We would rather be visibly wrong and correctable than invisibly wrong.
Applications and the AI
Will the AI make things up about me?
No, and this is enforced rather than promised: anything the model produces that your resume does not support is dropped before you ever see it. It will not invent a skill, a job, a degree or an accomplishment.
What questions will it refuse to answer?
Demographic, race, gender, veteran-status and disability questions; legal acknowledgements and attestations; and anything it cannot answer truthfully from what you have given it. Those come back to you.
Does it submit applications for me?
Not unless you turn on Auto Apply. By default MarketMate fills the employer's form, tells you field by field what it could and could not do, and leaves the Submit button to you.
What does Auto Apply actually do?
Within limits you set — how many applications per window, how many in total, which roles to exclude — it finds eligible roles, prepares the application, checks its own work, and submits. It stops and hands back anything that needs your judgement, and it will not proceed past a CAPTCHA.
Can I review what it sent?
Yes. Every application keeps its full history, including what was filled and what was outstanding at the time.
Privacy and your data
What can the extension see?
The application form on a supported job page: the fields, their labels and their types. It does not read your browsing history, it does not run on other sites, and it sends the values already typed into a form to nobody.
Who else sees my resume?
An AI provider processes your resume text to structure it and to write your drafts. Nobody browses your data for interest, and we do not sell it. The full detail, including what is deliberately never stored, is in the Privacy Policy.
Can I delete everything?
Yes. Ask us from the contact page and we will remove your account and the data attached to it.
Does MarketMate pretend to be me?
It fills a form on your behalf, on your own machine, in your own browser, with answers drawn from what you told it — the same as a friend typing for you. It does not disguise the browser, forge identity, or evade a site's protections.
